Paula Le, the coordinator of a Vietnamese social group, has volunteered with Access Sydney for more than 10 years.
Initially, Paula was a member of a group that used Access Sydney buses for local outings, but over time took on the role of organizing the group and developing a closer relationship with Access Sydney. This took on more importance during COVID, when the group ensured that its members had enough food and essentials during lockdowns.
Paula now coordinates, with Access Sydney, regular social outings for a group of Vietnamese speaking older people, ensuring they maintain contact with each other, visit places of interest and enjoy the food that they share.
“Access Sydney are not only providing us with affordable, safe and timely services, but also helps to build an informal network of support. The services helps us to maintain our independence and to stay social and connected with people in the same neighbourhood and people from the same CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) background. The agency also keeps us up to date with information and upcoming events/outings and can tailor make the outings to suit our group”. – Paula Le
