Keep Yourself Secure Online – Cyber Security
To help you maintain online security, we have a few tips below from the Australian Government’s Act Now, Stay Secure initiative. These tips will help you stay safe on-line and be more aware of cyber security. See below for more information.
Set up multi-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication makes your online accounts safer. It means you need more than one way to prove it’s you when you log in. You might need your password and a code from your phone. This makes it much harder for hackers to get into your accounts, even if they know your password.
Install software updates regularly

Keep your apps updated to stay safer online. Software updates are like patching holes that hackers could use. It’s a good idea to turn on automatic updates so you’ll know when new versions are available and can get them installed. Up to date software and applications make your device more secure.
Create strong and unique passwords

Use strong and unique passwords to keep your online accounts secure.
What makes a password strong and unique?
- 4 or more random words
- 14 or more characters
- Different password on every account
For the easy creation and storage of passwords, a password manager is a good option.
